Note: Gardasil Vaccines
Gardasil is a 3 shot series that protects against HPV. The 3 shots are given at 0, 2 and 6 month intervals. The vaccine is currently given to girls in grade 8 through an OHIP funded, school administered program. Older girls or women may receive this vaccine. Please speak with your physician regarding this vaccine. Note: 2 Dose Varicella Immunization The Ministry of Health introduced a second varicella vaccine to the public to protect children born after 2000 against chicken pox. It is a mandatory vaccine for children to receive. Note: Rotavirus Vaccine Program The Rotavirus vaccine is now a part of the routine vaccination schedule at 2 and 4 months of age. |
Note: MMR & MMRV Vaccines
The Ministry of Health has introduced a measles, mumps rubella and varicella vaccine to protect against these infections. The regular MMR vaccine will be administered to children of 1 year of age and the MMRV is given later between 4 & 6 years of age. Note: Shingles Vaccine Patients over the age of 65 who had the chicken pox in the past, may wish to consider the Shingles vaccine. Consult with your physician regarding this matter. This vaccine is not covered by OHIP and must be purchased by the patient at the pharmacy with a prescription. |
